Come Try Rowing Workshop - FREE

General Description: 

Curious about rowing? Come spend three hours on the water with us during our FREE Come Try Rowing session! This beginner-friendly experience is designed to introduce you to the exciting sport of rowing in a fun, welcoming, and safe environment. Participants will learn the basics of rowing, including important safety procedures, the parts of a rowing shell, proper equipment handling, and introductory rowing techniques both on land and on the water. No experience is necessary — just bring comfortable athletic clothing, a willingness to learn, and get ready to discover why so many people fall in love with the sport of rowing!
 

Is this program right for you?

Athletes aged 14+, who are new to the sport of rowing. This program is open to all backgrounds and abilities!

No prior rowing experience is required. Participants must acknowledge that they are able to swim.

 

Schedule:

  • Session 1: Sunday, May 31, 12:00 to 3:00 pm

  • Session 2: Late June TBD

  • Session 3: Late July TBD

Youth Learn to Row, Summer

General Description: 

Our Youth Learn to Row program is open to all teens ages 14–18 who are interested in trying the sport of rowing. This introductory program focuses on fun, skill development, teamwork, and confidence building while teaching the fundamentals of rowing in a supportive environment. Participants will gain on-water experience and develop the skills needed to continue into either competitive or recreational rowing programs with the club.

Is this program right for you?

Athletes aged 14-18 who are and live in Kingston and the surrounding area, who are new to the sport of rowing. This program is open to youth of all backgrounds and abilities!

No prior rowing experience is required; our free "Come Try Rowing" program is preferred. 
Participants must acknowledge that they can swim.

 

Practice Schedule:

  • Session 1: June 16 - July 9

  • Session 2:  July 9 - August 6
  • Session 3:  August 11 - September 3
     

    5:30 PM-7:30 PM Tuesday & Thursday​

Fees:

$250 session fee, plus yearly RCA&RowOn Fee

What's Next:  After completing Learn to Row, participants can choose the path that best fits their goals and interests. Those looking for more weekly water time, advanced coaching, and the opportunity to compete at regattas can join one of our Competitive Programs. Participants who prefer to continue building their skills in a more relaxed, social environment can join one of our Recreational Programs, which focus on fun, fitness, and ongoing skill development at a comfortable pace.

Adult Learn To Row, Summer

General Description: 

Our Adult Learn to Row program is perfect for people who are completely new to rowing and want to give the sport a try in a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment. No experience is needed! Participants will learn the basics of rowing, including safety, boat handling, rowing technique, and teamwork, both on land and on the water. This beginner-friendly program is a great way to get active, meet new people, and discover a lifelong sport at your own pace.

Is this program right for you?

Athletes aged 14+ who are new to the sport of rowing. This program is open to athletes of all backgrounds and abilities!

No prior rowing experience is required. While not required, we recommend you participate in our Come Try Rowing Session.
Participants must acknowledge that they are able to swim.

Youth Rowing Camps

General Description: 

This year, we have partnered with the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, Kingston, to offer an incredible summer experience

 

Our Rowing Camp offers a fun blend of athletic training and traditional camp activities. Mornings are spent at the Kingston Rowing Club, where campers learn basic rowing skills and work together on the water. In the afternoons, the group travels to the YMCA to enjoy classic camp activities like arts and crafts, games, and team sports. With the perfect balance of athletic challenge and camp fun, this program provides a unique and well-rounded experience for every camper! No rowing experience needed. Proudly partnering with the Kingston Rowing Club Campers will receive a 3-month complimentary membership to the YMCA after completing the week.

Is this program right for you?

Children aged 10-13. This program is open to students of all backgrounds and abilities!

No prior rowing experience is required. Participants must acknowledge that they are able to swim.

Camp hours:

  • Monday to Friday from 9 am - 4 pm

  • Extended care (no additional cost) is available from 7:30 - 9am and 4 - 5:30pm

  • July 13-17

  • July 20-24

  • July 27-31

  • August 10-14

  • August 17-21

High School Learn To Row - Spring

General Description: 

Our High School Learn to Row program combines athletes from different high schools in Kingston and the surrounding area, who are interested in completing an introductory season in the sport of rowing. This program provides an introduction to the sport with an emphasis on fun, skill development, and confidence building, and prepares participants to join the club in a competitive or recreational stream upon completion.

Is this program right for you?

Athletes aged 14-18 who are attending high school in Kingston and the surrounding area, who are new to the sport of rowing. This program is welcome to students of all backgrounds and abilities!

No prior rowing experience is required. Participants must acknowledge that they are able to swim.

 

Practice Schedule:

  • Session 1: April 28 - June 13

    • 5:30 PM Tuesday & Thursday

    • 8 AM Saturday

    • 10 AM Sunday
