Summer Recreational Rowing

The 2019 Discover Rowing Program is built to accommodate new and casually experienced rowers while developing a strong technical foundation for the sport of rowing. But most of all, it's about having fun on Kingston's beautiful waterfront.

Learn to Row

The Adult Learn to Row workshop is targeted for individuals with no experience or previous rowing knowledge. This spring and summer we are pleased to offer a three-hour Learn to Row workshop, which will teach participants basic rowing terminology and technique.

The price for a Learn to Row session is $100+HST and includes a three-hour instructional session as well as a registration with Rowing Canada and RowOntario which is required as part of all of the club’s programs. Lunch will also be provided.

Workshops will run from 9:00am to 12:00pm and will be held on:

  • Saturday June 29, 2019

Please note if you are registering for Adult Learn to Row you do not need to purchase an ORA/RCA membership. This fee is included in the total workshop fee. If you wish to continue to row with us through our Adult Recreational Rowing League after you participate in adult Learn to Row, you will have to purchase an ORA/RCA membership.

Participants are only required to attend on Learn to Row session to graduate to the Recreational Rowing Program.

 Adult Recreational Rowing League

The Adult Recreational League will run for five weeks between July 2nd and August 2nd, 2019 and will be held Monday through Thursday from 6pm-8pm. Supported by a coach, the adult recreational program is all about getting out on the water for fitness and fun.

Rowers must have completed a Learn To Row session prior to joining the Adult Recreation Rowing League

Adult Recreational Rowing session dates:

  • Week 1: July 2-5 (please note: no programming on July 1 due to long weekend)

  • Week 2: July8-12

  • Week 3: July 15-19

  • Week 4: July 22-26

  • Week 5: July 29 - August 2

The price per session is $80, with the exception of Week 1 which is pro-rated to $60 on account of no programming being offered on Canada Day.

Note: Rowers participating in our Adult Recreational Rowing League are required to purchase an ORA/RCA membership.  Participants graduating from the 2019 Learn to Row program will have already purchased an RCA/ORA membership as part of their original fee.

2019 Winter Evening Erging

Stay fit this winter with our adult evening erging program. Beginning in February the program runs three nights a week on Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm until the end of April.  Cost is $25 per month or $50 for the three month period.

Fall Recreational Rowing

Family & Friends Introduction to Rowing

This fall we’re offering an introduction to rowing for family of junior competitive and learn to row programs. We’re excited to provide this opportunity to learn basic rowing terminology and techniques and to get on the water on Thursdays at the same time that the Youth Development League is scheduled.

Family & Friends Introduction to Rowing will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on September 27, October 4, 11 and 18.

All rowers joining the Family & Friends Introduction to Rowing must be registered with Rowing Canada and RowOntario through the Rowing Canada Aviron website. Please follow the following steps to create an account and register with Rowing Canada:

  • go to https://membership.rowingcanada.org/

  • when the RCA website appears, click on CREATE ACCOUNT NOW

  • fill in the required information and follow the screen prompts

  • once your account is created, in the menu bar, click on REGISTER/JOIN

  • after that screen loads, click on JOIN A PROGRAM

  • from the drop down boxes, select ONTARIO and KINGSTON ROWING CLUB

  • click on JOIN associated with the 2018 Rower description and follow the screen prompts


Non-Competitive Rowing

The Kingston Rowing Club Non-Competitive membership is suited for rowers with past experience who are interested in rowing for fun or casual fitness, but who do not wish to participate in the afternoon Adult Recreational League.

If you are interested in becoming a member for the 2019 season, or are already a member, please sign up below for a spot in a recreational boat. When the quota for a boat is met the KRC will contact the interested members to arrange a collectively agreed upon weekly training schedule and assign the crew a coach. Non-Competitive members who demonstrate competency in small boats and pass a supervised water safety test may be permitted to row without coach supervision under the club's buddy boat regulations.

*Rowers participating in our Adult Non-Competitive Rowing Program are required to purchase an ORA/RCA membership.

RCA/ORA Registration

Members must register themselves with Rowing Canada and RowOntario through the Rowing Canada Aviron website. Please follow the following steps to register with Rowing Canada:

  3. in the menu bar, click on REGISTER/JOIN

  4. after that screen loads, click on JOIN A PROGRAM

  5. from the drop down boxes, select ONTARIO and KINGSTON ROWING CLUB

  6. click on JOIN associated with the 2018 Rower description and follow the screen prompts

Rowing Canada will invoice the Kingston Rowing Club for the cost of each registration. This cost is not included in KRC program fees. Members will be required to reimburse the KRC for their registration fees, and can do so by using the link below.

Private Lessons

Private lessons will be offered between June and August for the 2019 season

Private instruction can be booked through our Program Coordinator at info@kingstonrowing.com. The base price for a private lessons is $100 + HST per hour per person, with additional participants starting at $32.00 per person.
